2851 CONFERRED WITH DEGREES AND AWARDED DIPLOMAS AT THE 63RD GRADUATION CELEBRATION

63rd graduation ceremony

The University held its first virtual graduation on 26th September 2020. 2851 graduands were conferred with degrees and awarded diplomas during the celebration.

The Chancellor Dr. Vijoo Rattansi awarded diplomas to 367 graduands, 2045 Bachelor Degree Awards, 15 Postgraduate Diploma Awards, 370 Master Degree Awards and 54 Doctor of Philosophy Degree Awards  

The graduands were able to join the live celebrations virtually by streaming from online platform- Microsoft teams. The event was also live on KTN news and Switch TV Facebook page.

The Cabinet Secretary Education, Prof. George Magoha noted the secret to success is to involve everyone including the teaching and non-teaching staff. He also noted the University has great faculty and great faculty attracts the best students and he urged the management to take care of the Professors. Prof. Magoha also noted the University will play a key role in the big 4 agenda and vision 2030 by producing the necessary research and skilled human resource

On her part, the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi noted ‘this graduation is a historical moment for our university and will be recounted in the annals of history as the first virtual graduation ceremony of the university of Nairobi

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiama congratulated all the graduands for the wonderful accomplishment. The vice Chancellor noted issues of unemployment and limited career opportunities for graduates continue to be a big concern for all the stakeholders. He noted our graduates have been equipped with relevant skills and they are competent and globally competitive. He urged the graduands to look for opportunities beyond their discipline and comfort. ‘Be innovative and adventurous. Seize every opportunity that comes your way. Tackle the challenges that you encounter and try to solve people’s problems -for there-in liesthe opportunity for innovation and success’.

The event was conducted at the Great Court and was attended by a small congregation as directed by the Government during the Covid-19 restrictions.
