CBPS RESEARCH WEEK: Keynote Speaker Day 2(15th Oct 2020)

Dr. Edwin Dindi will on Thursday 15th October deliver a keynote presentation on: Kenya Rift Valley: tectonic Setting, natural resources, hazards and hazards mitigation.

Dr. E.W. Dindi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geology of the University of Nairobi and an expert in Geophysics, Seismology and Structural Geology. He has supervised over twenty postgraduate projects and served as external examiner for Makerere University and the University of Bergen, Norway. He has great interest in the Kenya Rift Valley and was part of the international team of experts that conducted deep crustal studies on the rift in the late eighties and early nineties under the auspices of Kenya Rift Seismic Research Project (KRISP). He has also worked for several years at the Vienna based United Nations specialized agency on disarmament namely the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). He served at the organization in various capacities that include Technical Evaluation Officer, Chief Technical Evaluation Section and Chief Capacity Building and Training Section. His contribution at the CTBTO was mainly on the technical evaluation of the Waveform (seismic, infra sound and hydro-acoustics) technologies of the International Monitoring System of the CTBTO. He was also responsible for capacity building and training at the organization.

The research week runs from 14th-16 October 2020.
