The Dean School of Physical Sciences position has been occupied in acting in capacity by Prof. Christopher Nyamai, since January 2015 to date when the then elected Dean Prof. Lydia Njenga left for Director Graduate School.
The following candidates have expressed their desire to contest for the post.
During the 61st graduation ceremony of the University of Nairobi, the School of Physical Sciences graduated a total of 290 students out of the 4,107 graduates. The school graduated 3 PhD students, 19 Masters students and 268 undergraduate students all drawn from the departments that constitute the school as follows:-
1 PhD student from Chemistry, Fozia Ali Adem
Meet, Prof. Francis Nyongesa, he is the new Chair Department of Physics. Prof Nyongesa, an associate professor in Physics takes over from Prof. Mwabora who has been the Department's chairman for the last six years (2013-2019).
Prof. Nyongesa took office on Monday 4th November 2019. He is a material scientist with research interest in Functional Materials for Energy Efficiency Sytems (Dye Sensitized Solar Cells) and Water Purification Systems.
Prof. Nyongesa attained his PhD in Physics 2000.
