The Department of Meteorology offers a postgraduate programme for the Doctor of Philosophy degree by research and thesis in one of the following specializations:Meteorology,Environmental,Meteorology,Agrometeorology,Hydrometeorology and Surface water Resources, Aviation Meteorology and Climate Change.
The Department of Meteorology is pleased to advertise the following postgraduate programmes for September 2016 intake :PhD in Climate Change Science (PhD CCS),PhD in Meteorology in any of the following specializations: Meteorology, Environmental Meteorology, Hydrometeorology and Surface Water Resources, Agrometeorology among others .
Students will be trained in photo-voltaic systems as well as receive scholarship opportunities, while staff are set to benefit from technology transfer. This was revealed when University of Nairobi signed a memorandum of understanding with Sun Farming.
SUNfarming GmbH Germany and North West University Potcheftroom South Africa (NWU) have jointly organized a two week training on food and energy project at Potchefstroom. The ongoing training started on 25th of April 2016 and is scheduled to end on 7th May, 2016. Dr. Justus Simiyu and David Karibe from the department of physics, University of Nairobi are currently attending the training as master trainers. This is one of the activities that are lined up for implementation as outlined in the recently singed MOU between the university of nairobi and SUNfarming GmbH.
