UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (UNSA)

UNSA is the overall student body. Registered in July 1998 as SONU, it has the following objectives:-

  1. To establish an efficient, accountable and transparent student organization which seeks and undertakes representation and/or participation in organs of the University.
  2. To work in close solidarity with other students organizations within the University and establish friendly relations and understanding with other relevant organizations.
  3. To seek, enhance and maintain freedom of conscience, expression, association, academic liberty and all rights occurring to students and to promote employment of the same.
  4. To promote student welfare, work hand in hand with University administration and other bodies concerned with enhancement of students’ standard of living and undertake any other activity which does not conflict with the constitution of UNSA or any law or regulation in force in which is beneficial to the members.
  5. UNSA also seeks to represent students in various administrative and academic organs of the University. Students can channel their input into the University Council, University Senate, Student Welfare Authority (S.W.A.) and College Academic Boards.

UNSA Executive comprises of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Administration, Vice-Chairperson, Academics, Secretary General, Organizing Secretary, Treasurer, Secretary-Sport and Entertainment, Secretary- Health, Accommodation and Catering, Campus Representatives from Chiromo Campus, Lower Kabete, Kikuyu Campus, Main Campus, Parklands, Upper Kabete, Medical School and the Gender Affairs Secretary.

Nairobi University Meteorological Association (NUMA)

Nairobi University Meteorological Association, is an association that brings together undergraduate, post- graduates and masters  students of Meteorology and applied Meteorology and other persons interested in the field of Meteorology.

Membership

There are three categories in which membership shall be acquired;

Ordinary Membership

This shall be open to any student studying meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences including undergraduate and postgraduate students at the university of Nairobi who shall attain membership upon payment of registration fee as shall be decided upon from time to time.

Associate membership

This shall include students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree but have interest in Meteorological science in the University of Nairobi or persons holding meteorological qualifications and are currently not students of the University of Nairobi. These shall attain membership upon payment of registration fee as shall be decided upon from time to time.

Honorary membership

The persons under this section shall be invited through a resolution passed during S.G.M or A.G.M of which in the opinion of members the person(s) has/have rendered distinguishable contribution to the association/department of meteorology. Any person who upon satisfaction is a former member of the association and is currently not a student in department of meteorology, had good reputation, shall be vetted upon by the executive preceding application subject to approval by not less than two thirds of members present during S.G.M or A.G.M in which the subject is to be resolved provided such a meeting is in line with the constitution.

University of Nairobi Microprocessor Technology Association (UNMTA)

A Microprocessor Technology student body mandated to harness full potential of members through involvement and engagement in activities that enhance  academic excellence and quality of life by organizing frequent fora, exchange programs and community sensitization aimed at equipping members with diverse knowledge in all aspects of life guided by the motto ”creativity is the crest of science”. 

NAIROBI UNIVERSITY GEOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION (NUGSA)

PURPOSE

To create a healthy and conducive environment for effective learning of Geology and related courses to empower and solve geological related problems in the society.

MANDATE

To amplify the voice of students whereas maintaining smooth running with the Department and school through advocating for students issues.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide a platform for students to interact and engage at different levels
  • To ensure proper dissemination of information to all students through; meetings, journals and magazines
  • To organize academic trips and tours for Member students
  • Invite motivational and professional speakers in related fields from renown companies
  • Point out academic related problems affecting students
  • Link up the students to the corporate world through internships and attachments
