The University Health Services
The right to health is a basic human right that involves a wide variety of factors that can assist in living a healthy lifestyle. A functional health care system that provides equal opportunities for all to enjoy quality health care, including disease prevention, treatment, and control, as well as access to essential medicines, is part of the right to health.
As a result, in 1972, the University Health Services (UHS) was founded as an outpatient clinic to provide health care to students. The UHS mandate has grown over time to provide outpatient and inpatient facilities for workers and their dependents, as well as advising University Management on health care growth and development.
The Main Campus's student and staff clinics, as well as the Student and Staff Hospital, are located off State House Road and are open 24 hours a day. Kikuyu, Upper Kabete, Lower Kabete, Kenyatta National Hospital, Chiromo, Kisumu, Mombasa, Kibwezi, Parklands, and Kenya Science campuses all have satellite clinics. These satellite clinics are open from 8 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., with emergency coverage available at night and on weekends.
Outpatient facilities that are not accessible at UHS are offered by third-party providers. In-patient facilities are provided at the Students and Staff Hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital, and other major hospitals in compliance with current health policies for students, staff, and their dependents.
Despite restricted and constrained resources, UHS remains committed to providing reliable and cost-effective services in the face of rising demand for quality healthcare and rising healthcare costs.
