Sports and Games

The Sports and Games Department at the University of Nairobi is Kenya's oldest and biggest. The department dated back to 1956, when there were 215 students from the Royal College of East Africa. The standard netball, soccer and volleyball sports were also provided here.

Today, the Sports & Games Department supports all students and university employees with leisure and professional competition. Special facilities in the Sports and Games Department represent a concerted effort between the technicians and the managerial personnel (Games Tutors and Trainers) and other partners.

Rugby, football, handball, hockey, netball, golf, athletics, swimming, table tennis, scrabble, and chess, swimming, cross country, taekwondo, karate, karate, boxing, and tug of war are all available in the Sports and Games Department. These disciplines are repeated in all colleges to provide our consumers with reliable and productive services.

Sports involvement is promoted by enjoyable events as well as intramurals such as inter-year, inter-hall, and inter-faculty sports tournaments. Inter-campus build-up games and tournaments act as the basis for organized sports at the university.

In terms of competitive results, the Games tutors and coaches continue to play an important role in recognizing and cultivating sports talent, culminating in outstanding performance in national, international, and continental competitions. Athletes who qualify for the World University Games are open to a wide variety of international tournaments.
