A successful team building that commenced with a talk on stress management and ended with vigorous sports activities was held by the School of Physical Sciences (SPS) today.

As part of the team building exercises, staff were given a recipe of addressing stress. Giving a radical and practical approach on stress management was Ms. Jean Wachira, a psychologist from University of Nairobi’s Department of Psychology. She identified humour as one important way of dealing with stress citing that a sense of humour enables you to negotiate stress. “Everyone should make every effort to incorporate humour in their daily lives,” she emphasised.

The highlight of Ms. Wachira’s presentation was a humorous practical exercise with an intention to prove that laughter is infectious. She also explained on effects of stress as well as other ways of counteracting stress which include; time management, change of attitude, nutritious diet and a social support circle.

What followed thereafter was an intense workout, filled with team building games and strategies of winning, where staff battled it out in different group exercises, a relay race and finally an intense tug of war competition.

The Principal College of Biological and Physical Sciences (CBPS),Prof. B.Aduda, who opened the event, invited staff to be part of the success emanating from team play in the college.

The Dean School of Physical Sciences, Prof. Lydia Njenga was also one of the energetic staff during the field games. She extended her appreciation to everyone who participated in making the team building a success. Click here to access gallery
